Hello, my name is Jana Albright. I am the founder of Sunshine Kids Center, a licensed small home day care and preschool. After teaching in public schools for 25 years and working with preschoolers for the past 3 years, I am excited to build my own children's center in the Westminster and Huntington Beach area that serves children ages 1-3. My husband (a high school teacher and athletic director) has also built a career in education, and we have raised 2 wonderful children of our own. Dedicating my life to my own family and the youth in my community have made my career a very challenging but rewarding experience. Besides teaching and raising my own children, my hobbies include cooking, reading, crafting, and almost any outdoor activity that involves movement, nature, and fun! My vision is to encourage, motivate, and foster a positive learning environment where children will grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. This is a family-centered facility in which communication is key to success. I look forward to meeting you and connecting with your child to give him or her the best start towards starting kindergarten and becoming a life-long learner.
I love to cook. And since I am a teacher by nature, I enjoy sharing my love of food and how it benefits our bodies with others. That all begins with taking care of our own bodies and also our Earth. I foster a caring environment in which we discuss being considerate of all creatures, practicing healthy routines that include trying a variety of foods, learning about the benefits of nourishing food to our growing bodies, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors by being physically active to keep our bodies strong. At Sunshine Kids Center, I prepare a variety of homemade foods for my students. I also ensure the children have time each day to play outside. This not only develops social skills but also benefits their developmenta physical growth.
My family is strongly rooted in our community and we not only work in this city, but donate our time to sports, church, and special interest groups. I develop this same sense of community with the families who become a part of the Sunshine Kids Center. Each day my students have whole group time to expand vocabulary, develop thinking skills, and learn units connected to reading, math, and writing skills. There is also time set aside each day to explore learning centers: play kitchen, dress up, building blocks/cars/Legos, puzzles, and books. These whole group and small group settings encourage children to become productive and respectful members of our community here at Sunshine Kids Center!
